  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity Needs Vs. Wants
How is creativity necessary for practicing simplicity?

It helps one pay attention to the little things that truly help them get by in life rather than complicating it with outside factors that don't need to be in your life. It keeps you grounded and one with your true self.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

    Chloe Gatulik's avatar
    Chloe Gatulik 4/06/2020 7:42 PM
It allows me to slow down and notice the little things that surround me. I have time to appreciate the neighbors I have and reminisce when I see younger children playing games I used to. It also reminds me of where I come from and appreciate the place that I live in.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

It for sure reminds you to take a step away from work of any sort and any other issues you may have. It gives you time to reflect on your life and refresh your energy. A breath of fresh air goes a long way to allow yourself to forget of all the negative things that are so small in you life and the beauty of life.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Exercise Daily
How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

    Chloe Gatulik's avatar
    Chloe Gatulik 4/06/2020 7:36 PM
I make sure I involve any friends who are free in plans that involve getting outside of exercise, the more the merrier and it allows everyone to share moments together and inspire each other to be healthy and happy.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

    Chloe Gatulik's avatar
    Chloe Gatulik 4/06/2020 7:28 PM
I feel that we don't value life or food the same as others. Much is at our disposal so we abuse the power we have to easy access to meat. Eating meat causes pollution among a handful of other problems that harm our environment which harms other people.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

    Chloe Gatulik's avatar
    Chloe Gatulik 4/06/2020 7:26 PM
I would not be surprised. I know many families that buy food to accommodate everyone's tastebuds and then left overs pile up and get forgotten and ultimately thrown out. I would rather use this money to save up for college or to put toward projects I care about!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health Happiness
How does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?

    Chloe Gatulik's avatar

It reminds me of what my values are and what is important to keep in healthy balance in my lifetime.

My focus during this eco challenge is to disconnect from electronics so I can get outside, exercise, and focus on how I can help myself and my community during this time!
