REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Less Screen TimeWhat did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?
Casey Altman 4/10/2020 10:10 PMIt was a little hard at first, but now i value my time off screens more i do puzzles and read. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Casey Altman 4/10/2020 10:09 PMYes. A culture that spends all of its time indoors beings to not value nature and is more likely to harm nature without caring. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Casey Altman 4/10/2020 10:08 PMI try to only exercise outdoors so that i spend more time in nature, and find group exercise to help keep each other accountable and become closer. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Casey Altman 4/10/2020 10:07 PMBecause meat is expensive so it is easier to access in richer countries. The meat industry is harmful to our planet because of how much carbon it produces, feeding livestock also takes food away from people. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Choose Organic IngredientsIt is often said that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food.” What is your response to that statement?
Casey Altman 4/09/2020 9:36 AMI don't think that is true at all, one main thing that would have to change if the world is to eat all or more organic food, is people have to become less concerned with the appearance of their produce. So much produce is wasted just because people don't like to buy ugly looking produce but its perfectly good food. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Conserve Toilet WaterWhat would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?
Casey Altman 4/09/2020 9:34 AMOur area needs to start cutting back on grass yards and street cleanings as both of these waste water with little reason. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Reduce refined sugarBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?
Casey Altman 4/09/2020 9:33 AMI don't think I was addicted to sugar but I do feel better now that I have worked on cutting down on my refined sugar intake. I think it makes me feel more naturally energetic and healthier -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth More Fruits and VeggiesHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?
Casey Altman 4/09/2020 9:31 AMMakes me feel healthier and have more energy. Feel the food I am eating was not that damaging to the planet to create. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Try a New Way to PrepCanning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?
