REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Compost Food WasteNew to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?
Cathy Davenport 4/05/2020 5:32 PMOur garbage output is way smaller than our recycling and with composting we will make it even smaller. Compost will go to our flower beds. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Cathy Davenport 4/05/2020 5:26 PMI have been getting up each morning and writing 3-5 cards to put in the mail outside my house - it is a GREAT way to start the day! Puts me in a good mood and reminds me of the awesome people in my life. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth More Fruits and VeggiesHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?
Cathy Davenport 4/05/2020 5:23 PMI am fortunate that fresh fruits and vegetables are readily available in stores right now. Most people are buying canned items due to Covid-19 so the fresh produce section has not been picked over. Bad side: people are missing out on fresh items and preparing home healthy meals. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Weekly Meal PlanningAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?
Cathy Davenport 4/05/2020 5:19 PMI am not surprised but I would rather use that money for a vacation! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Try a New Way to PrepCanning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?
