REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Track my PurchasesWhat have you noticed about your purchases? Where are you inclined to make shifts, if any?
Brenda Kozsan 4/08/2020 9:55 AMSince I cannot go out to stores due to coronavirus or driving to and from work, the normal stops have been limited to one day a week. It makes you more conscientious of how much you are spending over a week when only going to stores once a week. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Work from HomeIt takes the average worker in the United States 26 minutes to travel to work. One way to fix long commutes would be to make cities more affordable. An even simpler option: promote the use of telework. Are you in an industry that would allow you to work from home? What are some obstacles you might find yourself facing while working from home?
Brenda Kozsan 4/08/2020 9:53 AMCurrently, yes, because of the coronavirus. I have been working from home for three weeks and have stuck to my schedule. During a break, I will do an extra load of laundry or clean or talk to my husband and children. This is something I can't do while working at school. If the students were still in school, it would make it difficult as I enjoy the face to face interaction so you can see when they are excited, upset, need to talk, etc. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Brenda Kozsan 4/08/2020 9:50 AMWhile driving in a car, you are going too fast to enjoy your surroundings. I will sometimes talk to some of our neighbors or say "hello" during a walk which you can't do while driving (except waving). On the negative side, I noticed that there is alot of garbage (paper, cans, old tires, etc.) on the side of the roads. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Brenda Kozsan 4/08/2020 9:48 AMYes. I enjoy taking my dog for a walk so he is getting exercise but I enjoy the fresh air and sounds of nature while on a walk. If we spend at least 30 minutes a day outside for a walk or doing something outside, it is beneficial for our health and for maintaining weight. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Brenda Kozsan 4/08/2020 9:46 AMI walk everyday for at least 30 minutes if I am doing a cardio/weight training on those days. Otherwise, I tend to walk 5-6 miles every other day. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth HappinessHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Brenda Kozsan 4/08/2020 9:34 AMBeing grateful reminds you of what you have and where you have come from. You appreciate the little things in life and live simply. Being grateful for my family reminds me everyday how blessed I am.
