Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

I'm always amazed by how slow I am at first, especially if I haven't gone for a walk in a while. And then, I'm amazed by how far I've walked through the halls of my mind. And then by how sore my body can feel. It matters less where I walk because as I move I fall further and further into my own mind.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Smart Seafood Choices
Many states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?

As I increasingly read more about food import guidelines, I find myself reducing the amount and types of food I'm willing to consume. I keep a guideline of seafood according to SeaFood Watch in my wallet and at least for seafood, I don't eat anything from the list of things to avoid. It's a small step.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

I buy a reusable bag, if available. If not, I try to carry things by hand. Worst case, I accept a disposable bag and then try to find an alternate use for it. Whether that's donating it to my friends who have dogs they take for walks or to friends who can use paper bags in their own reduce/reuse/recycle efforts.
