I will sign up for my utility company's clean/renewable energy option.
Energy

Energy
Organize a Course
I will organize one of Ecochallenge.org's discussion courses, such as Powering a Bright Future, with classmate, friends, co-workers, or family.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 3 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Waste
Deliver branches - bring back mulch
South Middleton Township has a compost/mulch center. I regularly bring branches, twigs, tree & bush clippings there - they grind it up with a gigantic chipper - they make the mulch - they cure it - I'll bring mulch home to the house (for free!) The township wins because the branches don't go to the landfill I win, because I get free mulch! The earth wins!
Transportation
Conduct Virtual Meetings
I will not travel for meetings and will instead conduct them virtually.
Transportation
Work from Home
I will work from home 5 day(s) to avoid my commute's carbon output.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Hans Pfister 4/20/2020 8:05 AMWell, how many points do you get if you don't just turn the heat down by 2˚F but if you turn the heat OFF entirely?
For the past 3 days our heat pump turned itself off ... I guess it needed a rest after working properly for so many years.
Well, there are blankets ... and there is body heat! Did you know that the average human body emits thermal energy at a rate of about 100W? (That's like the power emitted by one of those old fashioned 100W light bulbs) -
Hans Pfister 4/01/2020 8:48 PMCovid-19 kept me teaching my class from home. I saved a total of 10lb of CO2 by not driving to campus and back home. H.
