Waste

Recycle Everything I Can

Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will research and recycle all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community, making sure to not contaminate recyclables with non-recyclables.

Once we started composting, actual trash which goes to landfill seems to have reduced by atleast half. The compost can be used as fertilizer for the gardens.

Using a composting bin for indoors is great...can be purchased from Lowe's. For outdoor composting, I have used an enclosed shallow ditch in the soil in my backyard before for vegetable peels and waste before and it worked well.

I composted in the past but got out of the habit. I selected composting as one of my commitments for EcoChallenge and intend get back into it! Any tips from Sumaiya or others would be welcome.

    Waste Choose Two-Sided Printing
Choosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?

Encourage others to set their default setting to 2-sided printing. It can be encouraged throughout the company by emphasizing the importance of paper usage reduction and how much storage space can be saved.
