John's actions
Food
Whole Foods Diet
I will enjoy 2 meal(s) each day free of processed foods.
Waste
Choose Two-Sided Printing
I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper each day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided at work or school.
Waste
Find Local Recycling Depots
I will spend at least 10 minutes finding out where to recycle the recyclable items that I can't put in my curbside bin.
Waste
Recycle Everything I Can
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will research and recycle all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community, making sure to not contaminate recyclables with non-recyclables.
Nature
Practice Gratitude for Earth
I will spend 10 minute(s) each day outside, practicing gratitude (prayer, meditation, journaling, etc.) for Earth and the nature surrounding me.
Water
Get Involved in the Water Justice Movement
I will spend at least 60 minutes using the resources provided to learn about water justice and find out how I can get involved in local initiatives.
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 30 minute(s) each day.
Nature
Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset
I will enjoy the sunrise and/or sunset each day.
Water
Fix Leaky Faucets
I will fix faucets or report leaky faucets to facilities that have been wasting up to 9 gallons (34 L) of water a day or 270 (1,020 L) gallons of water a month per faucet.
Simplicity
Meditate
I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 5 minute(s) each day to reflect on things important to me.
Nature
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.
Nature
Ecotourism efforts
Work toward enhancing regional ecotourism, bringing people into contact with nature.
Community
Eco-volunteer
Neighborhood work on sustainability.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
John Seidel 4/22/2020 2:13 PMQuality time with friends is a tough one these days, but spending time in nature is a great way to get outside and appreciate the spring, while getting exercise. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity MeditateWhat would you like to invest more time in reflecting on?

REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Practice Gratitude for EarthKathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How do we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?
John Seidel 4/22/2020 2:10 PMYes. If you're truly grateful for what you have, it's hard not to reflect on how much other people do without around the world. And reflecting on that need makes it hard not to feel an obligation to step up. Better public awareness of disparities, local and globally, might help in fostering that awareness. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Explore My AreaHow might spending more time outdoors enhance your brainpower?
John Seidel 4/22/2020 2:07 PMDowntime, recharging, and engaging the brain in different ways has to be healthy.
