I don't own a private vehicle and thankfully my uses are generally all accessible by foot, bike, or public transport.  Sometimes I get in a friend's car, but it is very infrequent.

In the Northside of Carlisle, there are less street trees than in other neighborhoods.  I don't know if the residents want them, but they may decrease cooling costs and increase property values, so I would be interested in seeing what they feel about this.

Ritual is an important part of our society. This is part of the reason college and high school seniors across the globe feel such a sense of loss over cancelled graduations this spring. An accomplishment of this sort usually has a celebration, yet it is not safe to gather in proper celebratory tradition right now. I am looking forward to the...

Right now, I am very grateful for all the experiences I was able to have at Dickinson. Although I am so sad that my time there has ended in this fashion, I know it is only sad because I was so happy there. Additionally, I am able to appreciate the simpler things in life right now, like the safety and health of my family and friends, the ability...

I feel very connected to water related issues. My studies and work experiences have guided me in this direction so far, and I feel at peace when surrounded by a natural water source. Water is such a simple concept in our lives, and yet it is amazingly complex when you study it in detail. I am grateful for the knowledge I have gained and hope to...

It is hard to choose other activities over screen time, especially in the times of online classes. This is actually something that really bothered me about online classes. I feel like I cannot escape the screen, whether I am doing readings, participating in classes, or writing papers. Although some screen time is required on campus, I now have...

Which of your EcoChallenge behaviors do you think will stick? The ones that I intend to continue are exercising daily, reducing refined sugar, and composting. I'm signed up for another volunteer shift at Project SHARE. After that I want to find time to continue volunteering regularly when life is more normal. I'll try to keep a good work/life...

So on the next to the last day of this challenge, I can share a final water-saving strategy that has worked well thus far.  Placing a full liter bottle in the tank of the toilet has...NOT affected efficacy of water flow, despite some early concerns on the part of my better 2/3, heh heh.  No idea how much water this has saved. I may sneak a...

While I have not been able to reduce refined sugar intake each day of this challenge, I was able to reduce it several days and still noticed a few differences (also comparing this experience to other seasons of reducing refined sugar). I know my body quickly reverts back to craving refined sugars if I've consumed them more often in a season....

Unstructured time has made it difficult to be focused on doing my work, but I also value the reduced pressure to always fill my time.  The pandemic has to some extent freed me from some pressures of capitalism.
